A lack of self-awareness is dangerous to our relationship with God and to each other. Divorces happen, parents and children can become estranged to each other, churches can split, countries go to war, all due to a lack of self-awareness. At the root of all of these problems may be the ignorance of yourself. God doesn't want you to live there. The good news is the scriptures are full of people that are just like you. We look at multiple biographies of Biblical people who were not self-aware and made huge messes of there lives. Being able to avoid some of the mistakes they made, and also emulate some the ways they were self aware, are important attributes for your spiritual growth.
